Never been sturgeon fishing before. When we lived in Int'l Falls, there were always pics in the paper of the huge sturgeon people were catching. Do you fish for them on the St Louis, too? I see them jumping a lot down there, but never hooked one.

I've always wanted to do it.  Rainy seems to be getting more and more of them and some good sizes now.  That could become an addiction all it's own.

GDS do you go every year?  If you do, what's been the most you hooked in a day?  And of course the biggest?

I have a buddy in Washington state that has the monsters on it and he said they are easy when they go into spawn.  They can only hook so many and land a few each day, but it takes hours of fighting them and they are from 12 - 16 feet long.  So you can't take the torture of that much stress on the body to catch too many.  He said he could set us up with a day or two for them, if we go that direction.  Maybe a road trip in the future.  I just can't imagine landing many fish like that...  hundreds of pounds each..  WOW...

GDS, you're not helping the fishing bug.  I am going to need a fix soon..  I am off to sit in the boat for a little therapy time.

I always wanted to get up there 2 years ago was my first trip. I am sure i will make a trip every year i can now. Last year we caught around 50 in one day alot in the 30 inch range Largest was 52, and i dont know how many suckers and redhorse. We watched a few 60inchers landed in boats around us. I was going to head up this weekend but the weather is not looking good.  I have a new boat sitting in the garage that needs to see water, the bug is iching!!!
