Bow Fishing on the St. Louis River

Hey I have seen someone bow fishing on the St. Louis River a couple times.  Does anyone know how they did?  Or who they were?  I may have to do it some time.  But I think I would need a higher platform to see better.  I do have a bow and used to do leagues, but I think a little practice would be a good deal.  I think I know a few locations to look for some big carp and that sounds awesome.

Anyone been bow fishing and care to share some information, tips, experiences about it.  I bet it was a blast..

I bow fish in the summer. I have a perfect little river conecting 2 lakes and carp a stacked! There is a perfent bridge over it so i get easy shots, so i guess don't have much to offer about the platform. There is not much you need to no accept, don't go cheep when buying a reel to put on you bow and bring more that 1 arrow and tip. one day when i swam nere the creek i saw some carp and didn't want to swim with them in my lake so i went up to the cabin and grabed a spear(i didn't have a bow at the time) and proceeded to harvest 5 or 6 then i was hooked. one more thing for my river they are there from june 5 to july 5 then gone.

Hi SuperGood,  I am not surprised about them being there from June 5 to July 5, probably spawning and enjoying the warm water, then off to normal haunts.  I think spearing and getting them with a bow would be awesome.  I do have an old spear now and I have a good bow, just have to buy the gear.  But this time of year is approaching quickly now.  I am really going to try and get out and spear this year, and smelt, along with the normal 100 plus days of fishing.  Of course this all depends on lots of other things, but I will learn and get ready so I can make a run for it, when I get the chance.

Thanks for the heads up.  Do you know of any good spring spots for carp or suckers?
