What would people think IF we could make our tournaments B.A.S.S. qualifiers?  You could choose to pay into B.A.S.S. and do that, OR NOT.  You would still be competing as we have in the past, but it would give you another option.

So we would have our normal fishing league and if you want to, you can goto B.A.S.S. and sign up and you are automatically eligible to compete for a chance at their state competition.  We will look into the full details and find out more.

For sure not all teams have to be B.A.S.S. but we would need three teams and we would have that, so it is a possibility.

What do you think?

I say NO.  I started the league by not following B.A.S.S rules and to make a league B.A.S.S. sactioned means that we make it a B.A.S.S. league and I do not want that.  Right now we have the flexibility to make our own rules for our own local waters.  Just keep it the way it is, local bass fisherman only.  From the just starting out guys to the seasoned veteran, we all have something to learn from each other.

If a B.A.S.S. qualifier is what teams want, then make a seperate B.A.S.S. league.  I believe Steve Gutz is part of a B.A.S.S. type organization.  Give him a call if your interested.  Remember that B.A.S.S. is really not a team event, it's and individual event.  DABL is a team event.

I knew that would get you going.  The question was asked and I posted it.  Yes we spoke to Steve and there is not anything too close to here.  As to having to change our rules for it, that's not what we have heard.  It sounds like we do our own thing, the same as we are doing it.  And no one has to do anything different for this.  Only the teams that want that option would do anything at all.  And all they do is join BASS and the night gets listed by them.

I think having a separate day for it would be a good option.  Or find the nearest tournament(s) and post them here.  Maybe a few teams would want to go to some of them and work together on prefish.

As for the team versus individual thing, that's not a problem either, the way they do it at the club level is to list one of you as the co-angler and the other as the boat captain.  We just aren't randomly drawing for them, we're fishing as teams.

Any ways, nothing is changing, OR proposed, but if people want to learn more about how to try it, that's a choice some will make after competing even at our level.  I know that a couple teams talked of getting a nicer boat and going for it already.  Not counting the two I know would do this already.

Chill Mr. FlyMaster..  Bass fishing is still bass fishing and league will remain a league.

I'm always chilling.

But why write "What would people think IF we could make our tournaments B.A.S.S. qualifiers?"  I take that meaning the DABL league.

So you should ask if people are interested in starting a B.A.S.S. club/league in the area, not changing what DABL started as.

But the my main concern was having B.A.S.S. associated as part of the DABL.  If people want to fish a club that has the B.A.S.S. name associated with, thats fine, but start another club.  I didn't know that B.A.S.S. allowed live bait fishing, even at the club level?  News to me.  Trolling is also not allowed in B.A.S.S. sactioned events at all.  Same for fly rods, well any rod over 8'.   I don't care which league it is, if you make a B.A.S.S. associated league, it will follow their rules for the most part.

I already went through this when I first started playing around with the idea of starting a bass league.  When someone hears B.A.S.S. they expect an event to play by the federation rules.

K, im still chilling.
