Deadline for returning teams and invites : April 1st, 2007

First I want to say thanks to all the teams that participated last year.  Great job guys.  I want to go over a few things for next year.

The league will be going to a invite only for new teams first, then go to a first-come first-serve basis for any new teams that want to participate.  So this means that current teams that participated in 2006 will be given first opportunity to join.  Teams that have participated can "INVITE" any new teams to the league to fill open spots.  Just send me an email or call me with info on how to contact a prospective new team.  After the deadline for returning and invite teams, then I will start taking open registration for teams.

Here is the sign up form for 2007

I want to go over possible changes for next years DABL...2007 season.  These are not set in stone yet, but possible and most likely to happen.

  • Up the number of nights to 10-12 nights.
  • Have at least 2 throw nights.  A teams's 2 lowest scores will not be counted towards the end of year totals.  So if there is only 10 nights, only the top 8 scores for a team will be totaled.
  • Extend the tourney time 3.5 hours (was 3 hours).
  • Starting and end times will changes.  First 2 nights and last 2 nights will be from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.  The rest of the nights will be 5:30pm to 9:00pm.  This follows the MMTS monday night league.
  • Go to a point standing system for end of year standings.  This will be like how MMTS does it.  You can view how it works HERE (under section 26) or call me at 218-590-1712.  This system favors consistency versus having big nights.  Weight will still determine nightly winners.
  • There will be a "wild card" night.  The wild card will be the lake that we fish.  This will be determined by drawing @ 6pm on the Wednesday before the scheduled night.  Will be a lake within an hour of Duluth.
  • Artificial Only (all nights)...This one is still up in the air.
FYI:  I am also looking at getting a new weight scale for the club.  It will be a bench type scale that can weight up to 150lbs.  Why 150lbs?  I want to do a weigh in water system.  Basically the fish are weighed while they are still submerged in water.  This keeps the fish in water, but we are able to use weight to determine a winner.  Here is more info about Shimano's Weight-In-Water system.  We won't be doing exactly how it's listed, but just the weight part. LINK

Oh, by the way.  If anyone would like to take the reign and do what I did for the 2006 DABL, please let me know.  Basically if any member from the 2006 DABL season want to try running the league, please let me know.  DABL is run by members of the league, so let me know if your interested or if you know if anyone is interested.  Otherwise I'll continue as President, don't matter to me.  I just don't want to be some dictator running the show.

NEW (11-2-2006)
Al from "The Bass Express" has volunteered to be President of DABL for next year (2007).  So he'll be doing all the league stuff (deciding on rules, determining weigh in's etc).  I'll still be involved on the sidelines, but want to switch off on President duties to those are interested.  Al can be contacted on his cell at 218-390-5676.  I don't have an email for him yet.

Update March 16th, 2007:

March 16th, 2007, we have 14 teams signed up and registered.

I've made the changes to the league and results pages to reflect the new position points system. The points for the new system will be labeled "Position Pts"

Don't forget the meeting on March 19th 7:00pm at Mr. D's.

-- Duluth Area Bass League is FULL --

We are no longer taking anymore teams for the 2007 full season entry fee of $50.

Teams still can participate on a nightly basis at $10 a night, but YOU MUST CALL AL ANSELL AT 218-390-5676 BEFORE THE NIGHT YOU WISH TO FISH.  If you show up at the landing without calling, you might not be able to fish, so please call ahead.

If you already sent your registration form and fee, we will send it back to you and put your team on a reserve list just in case a team bows out before the start of the season.

Thanks to all the teams that joined this year, it looks like another exciting year of bass fishing!
