I know that when I can get my kids out fishing these are the spots to go for panfish and pike, your two best bites.

Grand Lake - pike and perch all day, perch near the bottom 10-16'.  Pike on tip ups most any where but best on the weed edges and any where 10 and shallower.  All you need to do is put it under the ice a few feet.

Chub Lake is a great place to take a kid.  Lots of big bluegills just in the tops of the weeds.  Just find 8+ feet of water with weeds.  Drop your baits to just above the weeds and you will get bit.  Maggots are your best bet and be sure to use tiny jigs.  I like the mousies, spiders, ants, and colors like pink, yellow and orange.  Perch will be near bottom just outside the deep weeds near bottom. Crappie minnows and maggots will work.

Hay Lake near Carlton, Caribou Lake, and lots of other lakes all around the area. I have heard of several lakes near Cromwell, Floodwood, etc.

Ive been out on a few of the local area lakes the are all producing fish .

Best bet for a kid would be park lake near the resort in about 11 to 13 feet.

maggots were most effective

Me and the kids caught, pike, perch, bluegills, crappies and a largemouth. Most were small but they had a blast!

The weather is in our favor for the next few days so take advantage and take the kids out over the holiday season.

I managed to sneak away last evening to a local lake for some crappie,my order of crappie tubes came in from Bass pro ansd I wanted to give it a go.I tried the glow in the dark 1 inch and managed to land 11 fish 1 was a nice 18 inch largemouth .this was the first time I have tried tubes in winter for crappie.

Tip the jig with a waxworm or a couple of maggot.

Use heads that make the tube suspend horizontal.

Very cool Twitch.  I can see it right now.  As you opened the package from Bass Pro, you start twitching and just can't wait to get them bit.  Yeah, that's a fishing addiction.

Tubes for crappies, horizontal.  I have done that for years and it absolutely is the 'best' way to jig a crappie, especially through the ice.  Maggots are the best way, but a small crappie minnow works too.

Keep up the great fishing tips Mr. Twitch.  I go hope people get a kid out fishing, their the next generation and we need more of them involved and considering how much we love to fish, why not share that fun with your kids.  I do..

The one thing to remember is that not all kids will get into it.  But they all like snacks and time with you, so make it FUN and they will come back.
