I am going to the southshore at the bellaire beach landing.  I have been straight out from there doing some northern fishing in the shallower water.  I am curious as too where a good spot would be east of there, some where north of the #120 road where it meets the beach rd.  Anyone know about this area?  Depth maps show it gets deeper there and farther south east you get some sunken islands.  As of last week I didn't see much car activity except along the shore.  Hope to get there Mon with protable house.

I haven't fished there, yet.  But I am sure someone here has.  Be careful on the ice, but with this weather the ice must be building just fine.  I'll see if anyone else knows where to go.  I have fished a lot for crappie on ice and it sounds like you're looking in the right places.  Good luck and good fishing.  Welcome aboard and see ya soon fishing.

Hi and welcome Deweymn, I ice fish lots of new waters for crappies under ice.  The trick is go to the deeper water, drill a lot of holes, start drilling every 100 feet, then come back and drop a sonar down and maybe a small jig and waxie.  If there's a crappie nearby it will come and check it out.  If there are fish on the sonar suspended off bottom, put something near then and pull it away.  I have not gone to many spots and not caught crappie.  I would probably try near the points, then go into the pockets of deeper water 10-30 feet deep, near the most shallow water.  A little searching and you will find them.  One thing to keep in mind is that crappies sometimes suspend right under the ice.  So pause the jig just under the ice and see if something comes running, then drop it a couple feet and pause again.  Once you find them you can count on them being in the same positions most of the time.

Good luck and great fishing.  Hey when you get em, please let us know how you do.
