There are a lot of catfishing spots.  I have heard lately that some are going to the Perch Lake area and casting from shore after dark.  My favorite shore location used to be just downstream from the Hwy 23 bridge on the Minnesota side, where the point is the start of a big eddy.  Of course, if you want to walk into the area below the dam, that should be a great location too.  Boy Scout should be a great location too.  I am sure there are lots of good catfishing locations, but I just haven't had the time to work them.

I fish the Floodwood Catfish Festival every year and there are a lot of catfishing locations on the upper St. Louis River that different.  All I have fished up that way were from shore.  The Floodwood, Savanna, Whitefish and Cloquet Rivers are all known for catfish too.  Channel cats and all you have to do it find a good sized hole and fish it after dark.  Cats do bite all day, but they are slower then.

I hope that helps.
