I have done a little drop shotting, but haven't figured out when it's the best call up here yet. I an convinced there are times that it is the ticket and perfect for holding a bait at a set height above the bottom.
Have you been trying it up here? How about the deep bass in the clear lakes versus the smallmouth bass in the reservoirs on rock piles or off a nice quick breaking edge? Has anyone figured out any patterns in Northern Minnesota or similar areas with a drop shot rig?
Some day you will learn the ways of the bass master. I'll be doing alot more of this technique for sure and I might let you on the secrets on how to do it.
Dropshotting is a technique that involves having a weight at the end of your line and up from that you would have your lure 1'-5' or even more, depending on how far u want your lure off the bottom. It lets you have your bait at the exact depth that you want it at off the bottom, because you always keep the weight in contact with the bottom. So you always know how far your bait is off the bottom. I think that makes sense.
It's a pin point presentation and you work it slow.
Hey FlyMaster, shows us the way of the drop shot... I have done it a few times for smallmouth and pike and did very well with it. So I want to see it in action on a deep, clear lake for largemouth. I think it could be a great thing.
Pin point presentation and very slow, that's against my nature, but if the fish like it, I will do it.
