BassMasters Classic - what did you think?

Well I will admit it, I don't watch as much bass fishing as I watch other fishing, but I watched it this year and it was very interesting.  Man has ESPN done a great job bringing fishing to the main stage and the public.  I think the win by Luke Clausen was awesome and he really stuck to it.  Wire to wire win and under all kinds of conditions.  That's great.

Then the Mike Iaconelli deal.  What do you think of that?  I do see their point, he is becoming a role model by being in front of that many people, including young people and needs to model his behaviors and maintain control.  But the catch with Mike I. is that he gains his following by being highly emotional and has brought a lot of attention to bass fishing by his excitement and energy for it.  So it is a 6 of this and half dozen of that deal.  I hope it doesn't effect his love for tournament fishing, which I don't think it will.  That was an expensive penalty for it.  But anyone running a tournament has to think like they did.  Our sport can't handle too much bad press, and if we don't police our members some of those that want to end our fishing might use it for their purposes.  I just hope Mike keeps at it.  He certainly has brought a new crowd and feeling to fishing tournaments.  So that's a great thing.

Well that's my two cents worth, what do you guys think about the big BassMasters Classic coverage, event and what happened?

i totaly agree with  tenaciousd, The classic coverage was great and so was the torniment. As for Mike (my favorite fisherman) I'm not real high on him culling a dead fish but he still is hilarious and one of the best fishermen on tour. I also advise every one to read his book FISHING ON THE EDGE.
