Sounds great. I just got my batteries in the boat, vacuumed it out, started the motor and she purred.. Yahoooo.. I tested the trolling motor, the tilt and trim, everything. The Globalmap, the sonar, the radio, everything is a go. The only final tuning left is the trailer lights and hate that one. Oh well, that's an every year thing.
I am glad your boat is ready and it will be cool to meet you. Did you see what everyone uses for down there.
Talk soon..
Sounds like jigs with minnows and worms.
Who is all going?
We have at least two boats, plus yours. And another league is going to be there at the same time. We will meet them if we get the chance. It should be fun. Yes jigs and minnows, worms or ringworms is the ticket.
We will be in touch before leaving. We are going to meet Friday and Saturday nights for a few drinks and to talk fishing, if you are interested.
Talk soon.
Just let me know when and where. I should be able to make it Friday night.
Alright the weather was great, meeting everyone and the company was awesome, talking fishing, running the boat, trailer and truck all were great. But the fish were not cooperating. The MN DNR Officer said these were the worst days of fishing in years... Ok, he's there all the time and we saw less caught than ever on the Mississippi... Well we got some sun and we didn't go zero either, lots did, I would guess more boats got none, then got fish.
Day One: Joe caught a nice 18 inch sauger, a very nice sauger. Great job Joe. Doug missed a fish while on the cell... Bad call! Yeah with the fish, No because it was great talking to the other league, the Happy Hookers and hearing how they did out of Red Wing that morning. Their score 18 anglers, 10 fish, one 8 pounder and all the rest under 1.5 pounds.. Not a great day on the big river, but they caught fish. Our numbers were good comparing them to the other anglers but not to what we expected or hoped for. Oh well, that's fishing sometimes.
Team Patience first day.. One 4" sauger, no photos I believe.. Day 2: 4 saugers, 2 carp, and a sturgeon, no monsters, but a lot better.
Day Two.. We caught 4 saugers, a smallmouth, a white bass, and a 12 inch mud puppy.. Yes, I caught a fish with FOUR-LEGS. It had 3 toes on each foot and the feet were about an 1.5 inches long. It was a cool thing, but we hurried to release it, not knowing what for sure it was.. But very interesting. I have never caught a lizard before.. and it looked like one.
All and in all a great trip, but not great or even good fishing. Again the ringworms let me down. We tried 3 way rigs, live baits, vertical jigging, ring worms, a kitchen sink.. Ok, not the sink but we would have if anyone else caught one on one..
Thanks it..
Thanks AquaJoe, Matt P., Steve, Dan, Jimmy, Dave, and Alan, it was a great time.. Next year the fish will be there and bigger..
