Did you watch the story and interviews on BassCenter this weekend about this? They interviewed everyone related to it and even went over how easy it is to foul hook a bass on the beds and that's where this bass was. And they explained why the International Game Fish Assoc. (IGFA) is not going to call it a record, since it was foul hooked and that's illegal in California. So that's the answer. Still it is bringing a lot of attention to bass fishing and people to that area AND the angler is getting a lot of press either way. So it looks like everyone is a winner, either way, even if it does not get the title.
If the place were closer I might try it. But there are a lot of world records swimming in the waters we already fish, the trick is figuring out how to get one to bite.
I did see that and it was very interesting.
And I'm probably not going to hook a 25 pounder up here in minnesota any time soon.
very true.
