Margaritaville

Nice Logo. Makes me want to head out for some cold drinks in the hot sun. I was looking at super slow finess fishing for waldos. I also troll sticks and spoons at about 1.5 to 3.2 on the big pond but I really like to crawl on those days when its muddy or murky in the river.

Yeah, I figured the Crappie King needed a signature with a crappie..  Just seemed the thing to do.  I like the slow finesse bites too, but speed, faster or slower, is always a trigger, it's finding out which one.  I know we have a couple spots we need to be trucking for good scores, most are best slow, but a few need to be fast.  I am sure you'll find some plates.  Maybe you can get your crappie buddy's pic on them..

Thanks Crappie King, same to you! Did your new baby come with a bow mount trolling motor? I looked at the pics, but I can't recall. I have heard mixed results with the trolling plates. I was looking into them, awhile back. It seems that you almost have to find someone who has them, and really likes, them, and get that exact kind. Other people I have talked to, tried them, and they were worthless and taken off immediately. If you have a bow mount, that would serve the purpose of the plates I think? My 2 cents

Hey Crappie King, I see that the Margaritaville guy has more posts then you now...  I think he's making a move.  Before you know it, Margaritaville will be ahead of LoadMaster and Aquaholics too.  You go Margaritaville...  Maybe he has a margarita per post..  I am with that.  Strawberry margaritas were a fun thing.  I would fish all day, then go in quest of the best margarita at night a couple years ago.  I want to be able to hook up a blender in the boat and make one while fishing..  That would be the life..  Maybe when I finally get the catfishing machine put together.  Anchor above a great location, get the baits in the water, make a pitcher of margaritas, get some Jimmy Buffet on the tune box, and sit back and relax..  What do think of that idea Mr. Margaritaville?  Game for some big fish with a fresh margarita in hand?

Ed,

Not sure how much help it will be to you, but I ran a trolling plate on a 50HP Honda a few years back.  It was pushing an 18' Lund Pro Angler.  I got it because I could not go slow enough (3/4 to 1 1/2MPH) for lake trout in Canada.  I hated the thing!  It was the cord release kind.  It worked OK, maybe to OK.  The things I didn't like were, you loose your boat control and as I mostly struture trolled that didn't work out.  The direction of your boat is dictated by the prop pushing you in a given direction and the plate blocks that force, thus, you can't steer, at least not very well.  The other thing that I didn't like was it surprised me how much I had to get the RPM's up to even move.  Can't remember the brand I bought.

Have heard of guys getting the same effect by trolling with a drift sock straight out the back.  An interesting idea.

Hope it helps.
