Good ones Cooke350.  I think anyone taking kids out when they are young probably has a few stories.  I too have a couple rods missing in action.  One was on the Red River of the North and a catfish is now using it to catch his own darn bait.  Another is in a small river in Floodwood, where a catfish took the bait, started running and when my brother set the hook, all he had left was the butt of the rod, and the butt of this story.    It's now the catfish 2 rods, my brother zero.  Come to think of it, that might be why he doesn't fish much, they took him down a notch.

Once on Winni.   A friend of mine, my daughter and myself rented a fishhouse for the day. It was pretty cold out when we got there. Well this fishhouse didn't have any rattle reels, but it had 8 holes. since it was cold out and there was three of us, we decided to put 3 tip-ups and put them in opposite corners. After a few hours of fishing my daughters tip-up goes up and "accidentitally" the tip-up went down the hole. I was a little upset for a few seconds, when all of the sudden my tip-up went up. (Bet you all know where this going) Yep!  I pulled the fish up and connected to it was my daughters tip-up. We argued for a little bit--- Like the deer hunting thing. First to draw blood, No its the killing shot that gets to clame it thing. It was about a 8 lb pike. But I got the tip-up Back!!!!

Very cool.  Lucky pike.  I had a similar thing happen last year on Pike Lake with the Twitch man.  I had a rod pulled into the hole by a pike.  I dropped the Aqua Vu down, drilled some holes and sure enough it was down there, nearby.  I fished for the pole and eventually hooked it and pulled it up.  Maybe I should have been recording it.  It would have made interesting film to add to something.

Most of my memorible days of fishing is at someone elses expense. Its always great when some mishap occures while fishing, so heres a few things that I recall that happened in the last few years.[some of you will rember these]

1.Ran the boat on a sand bar at 40mph

2.Pelted by hail.

3.Ran out of gas and broke both paddles.

4.Fell out of boat that was tied to the dock.

5.Hit a rock and split the hull.

6.Lost lucky hat.

7.Lost poles over the side to deep to recover.

8.Foot ran over by trailer.

9.A Rapala in the head and thru finger.

10.The Red lake auger fish house attack.

11.The Catfish glove. My wife didnt like that trip. Sorry but it was funny!
