It is indeed true. I recently heard rumor of this, I spoke with CO Brian Mies about this today.

Wheeled fishhouse will need a License Plate on the back them to be legal to pull them on a highway, these can be picked up at a deputy registar office. You will also need the MDNR identification license on the house while it is left on the lake unattended.

This is not something coming from the DNR, but a Law that is being put in place by the MNDOT.  All details and when they are going to start enforcing this have not been worked out yet. I  have been set-up to receive all notices from the DNR and will watch for any info I see on this.

Do I have to worry about getting a license for my 5 gallon bucket that I sit on too?

I think that is on the agenda with the legislature this year. A few more there probably thinking of.

1. For Deer hunters---   If you place a deer stand in a tree, The Deer stand must be registered with and licensed by the US Forest Service.

2.For all Sportsman and Taxidermists-- There will be a $1 surcharge to the state for that trophy you took from them.

3.For Charter's and Guides-- They must charge a $1 user fee to their clients to fish the states waters.

Just venting some fustration.

The kicker of the whole story-- I know of someone that went to register and get the plates for his fishhouse, the DMV would not let him register it, because it was home built, and therefore didn't have a VIN #.  According to the DMV, they won't register a trailer now that doesn't have a VIN #.    What is going on?????

Yeah I see the day we want to use public water to swim a bait in costing us something more.  No more lead weights, no treble hooks, pretty soon we'll only get to shoot biodegradable environmentally freely paint balls at the ducks..  And only get to watch the fish on a camera.

I have even seen some things about the UN's agenda 21, have you ever read that?  It would bar guns, gas engines and cattle from using the rural areas.  And they would move everyone into cities to avoid us hurting the environment, save on gas pollution, and stop us from compacting the soil maybe destroying some unknown rare weed.  I thought we were a part of the eco system..  I thought we were part of nature.  And the basis of the report was already passed by the UN and the US had signed it.  Hence we have world heritage parks, etc.  I had or still have a printed copy too.  Interesting reading, but a far ways from based on reality or the facts that we cannot turn back time and the fact that are a part of the world and everything, including rivers, lakes and environments are all aging and changing.  Remember this used to be woodland caribou and moose territory, but it has changed and will not go back.  Erosion and time change things, even people.

I think sportsmen and women, love the outdoors, and spend not only the most time in it, but the most time and money protecting it for the future.  It's a part of our lives and we want it around forever.

I an a bit surprised by them not allowing a home built trailer on the roads, I have had several.  So use a part from a junk car, truck or trailer that has an old VIN # and use that.  But it's crazy to have to do that.

I hope they don't want me to license all my fishing rods as weapons of mass fishing destruction..

I think all you have to do is scribe in numbers on the frame so there is a way for them to verify the trailer is the one thats the liscence is registered to.

I did this to an old boat and snowmobile.
