Cabela's coming to a town near you?

Duluth could become home to the fourth Cabela’s store in Minnesota............

I'm just going to say wow!  But in a good and bad way.  I want to support the local guys, but come on, it's Cabela's.......

I like the local guys too, but the aquariums, heads and stuff make it an interesting trip.  So bring it on.  The more the better and it only helps all of us customers with more choices.  I think there is enough space for all.  Besides I will still be in our locals for things we can get there, but Cabelas has some things we aren't able to find in our local spots right now.

Cabelas will hurt Gander Mountain more than any of the "local" shops.  What we really need in this town is a Reeds Sporting Goods, but then again if that happened I would have one less thing to look forward to on my trips to Brainerd and Walker.   The other thing this town could use would be a bait store with a selection of live bait like Chalstroms either on or closer to the river.  Wasting more than an hour of fishing time to drive and get minnows is not time well spent.  Marine General has a nice selection of everything else, it is time for them to improve their live bait corner and carry some 16" suckers for me and Chopper 1 to use.

I agree, they will have an effect on Gander but not too much on the locals.  I know I will be at our sponsors more than Cabelas.  But there are some things at Cabelas that I can't find at the locals, so they will see that time.  I did hear from someone that they are looking at the Proctor area.  I do hope that happens.  That would  be awesome.

16" suckers are not easy to come by around here.  Maybe the new bait store in Gary would carry them if you talk to them.  That would be a shorter trip when fishing the river.

I'd have to agree with everyone here. Cabela's would be awesome, but shouldn't hurt the local shops. I go to Gander, but I go to Marine General more often. You can get anything for fishing / boating at Marine General. If Gander or Cabela's don't have it in their catalog, you can't get it there.

So, when's Bass Pro coming to town?
