So yesterday, I promised my wife that I would help her pick out some bathroom stuff for a bathroom we are redoing. My son got a call from one of his friends to go icefishing with his dad. They went to a private lake up in the Chisago area and slammed the northerns. My kid caught 5 with the largest being 30". Mmmmm... big time fisherman is out shopping while his kid is out catching fish... go figure. I got to tell you it can be tough getting out when you got a family. I haven't even been on the ice yet.
(embarrassed)
and
(crying)
I know the feeling WebDude. I had to help someone fix some plumbing yesterday and had been planning on ice fishing. Oh well. I will fish this weekend, even if I have to launch the boat. If I were on a lake, I would be on it most of the time, but having to pack up and go each time puts a damper on it during the winters.
I am sure your son didn't rub it in.. ha, mine would and does.. But then who can blame em. I am just glad that they love to fish. That's the important Dad thing, to share the love for fishing. No every kid is going to follow you, but be happy that they at least know what it is all about. Good job and if you have to go shopping make sure you get equal time in Gander Mountain or Cabelas...
Now that's the way to get the fishing gear one needs. Cool. Soft water is a long ways off. So planning is the game. I will be ready and will have spent a bit of time enjoying getting there too. I bet if this weather stays like this you just might see some open water, for a few days.. No chance of that here.
Hey do you fish the Forest Lake contest? With this weather some people maybe wearing inner tubes..
