Hello all,

I fish with Wallyhntr everytime I come out to MN.  I was born there but grew up in CA and planning to move back soon.

Wallyhntr intoduced me to Tonka and I look forward to fishing that lake every time I come out.  We have the same problem with rec boaters out here and yes they do get that deer in the head light look toss a big old crank bait at them.

I am planning a trip to Idaho (Sandpoint) and fish Lake Pend Oreille.  They are bit upset about the walleye's being there so i figure I will try to take some out for them.  http://www.theolympian.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060423/OUTDOORS/604230323/1038

Welcome aboard RulingViking.  I like the name.  Must be a Viking fan.  The only kind.

Sounds like you guys have some great fishing a happening there.  That's great.  I am sure hoping that I don't see a rec. boater near, but I will have to keep the muskie rod to protect the honor of my boat..

Man I might have to add Lake Pend Oreille to the "lakes to be fished" list.

Welcome Wallyhntr and RulingViking.  Sounds like you had the same life I did.  I grew up in CA and got a chance to come to Minnesota after my dad left the military.  I love it here.  Even though I left before I got into the job thing, getting a car, etc.  After I graduated from college, I made it my goal to not move from Duluth to find a job.  Someone up above was helping me and was able to stick it through and land some jobs.  I don't plan on moving anytime soon.

The problem is not enough time and too many lakes and rivers to fish.  AHHHHHHHHH!

Tight lines....

Thanks flymaster!

This is gunna be a rough opener, highs in the 40s, 25mph winds with rain expected! The fiance says I'm completely nuts to willingly sit in a boat at midnight in these conditions...

I would like to borrow your 3" treble hook Doug, would have a better chance of snaggin a walleye with that than getting one to actually bite in these conditions...

The treble's yours for the day, I will need it to defend the boat's honor another day..  Of course a good old fashioned bale hook might work for a day..  Just kidding, it could pull a horse into the boat..  but never needed to do that.  But last fall the Flymaster and I had to dodge a deer in the river between us and the landing.  Even had to herd it with the boat to get it in the right direction and to shore before someone ran into it.  Now that would have been something to explain to the insurance guy..  Well.. I was driving down the river when this deer bobbed up out of no where..  and hit me boat..  Yeah that's it..  I get the feeling he'll tip his head and ask for a breath test..

Good luck in the dark and cold.  We are out early in the morning and after walleyes and pike.  But we will probably be trolling.  We'll keep everyone posted in the fishing reports.  You guys could do the same for Tonka, if you're interested..  Thanks and good fishing..
