Hay who started the rumor there is going to be a Walleye only division of MMTS?
I don't know the whole story of last year's attempt at a MMTS walleye league, and won't go there
Well it sounds like a fun group, if I only had enough time to go fishing...
I have a daughter on the way and will have no time, thats why I started up the Duluth Area Bass League. One species and seven nights, easy enuf.
I know Doug pretty good, but he's not telling, so whos going to put an end to this rumor and actually start a walleye league
Tight Lines...
I am not going to go there for some things. But there are possibilities of one. It depends on someone stepping up and doing the money parts, the weigh-ins and working with us to keep things in sync. Of course, it has to be a day other than Mondays, because we probably have 6-8 teams that would fish it if it were not on Mondays. Thursdays opposite the bass group would be great. Or Tuesdays, Wednesdays or pick 4-5 weekend days (Saturdays or Sundays) and go for it.
If someone wants to do that, we can definitely talk about it. There's way too much interest in walleyes here to ignore it. After all, walleyes are the state fish for Minnesota.
I'm out here, anyone game?
Hi guys, There is still talk of a walleye league or at least some sort of big fish league. I personally think we should come up with a multi-species format that more teams would be interested in. It seems like with the bass league starting & a walleye league last year, that what some people are interested in is a league where we can fish for our fav. species but still have approx 30 teams to compete with.
So, would any body be interested in a mult- species league without rock bass, Blue gill, suckers, perch, and poss Crappies?
Just brain storming, but it seems like the league is getting smaller and divided. I don't know of a solution that will keep everyone. It just seems to me that some people are embarassed to compete in a league where rough fish are often the difference bet. doing well and being at the bottom of the placings.
hope for some discussion,
Merry X-mas,
Craig
I hear you.
One thing that would work and I could manage is if we have separate pots for walleyes and big fish, not nightly but for the year. Say a team joins multispecies pays their entry to that. Then they have the choice to pay into the Big Fish Pot some amount, say $30/team for the year. Then while they fish each week with multispecies, score with them, and are eligible to win any multispecies prize it doesn't add any complications to the end of night.
THEN at the end of year we run a report totalling Big Fish points, lengths, etc. for those teams in the Pot. (We can add this to the database easily early in the year). And the winner gets the pot. If 20 teams join, that's $600 bucks.
We can do that easily and it doesn't make much work for us.
You could fish just Big Fish every week and still possibly win multispecies AND the Pot or Pots. Potentially someone could win Multispecies with mostly big fish, then have the most big fish points and walleye points and win them also.
What do you think?? We could do this easy.
But I am not fishing against the Widowmakers for a muskie pot.. No way, you are tooo good there. Give me some lessons and I might go for it some day.
Merry Christmas!! Doug
