Man you are an optimistic fellow.  That's a good thing.  But us poor folks are tough to get that much out of.

I think I'll be getting one in a few years.  You'll need to help with a lot of websites.  But we could take them one site at a time.

Hey what type of carpet are you using?  I know that that marine carpeting lasts a long time, but isn't it a bit spendy?

I've gutted and rebuilts a few boats now and I've always just used indoor/outdoor carpet. I did this boat 6-7 years ago and it's holding up very well.

I would second Ed's thoughts.  I would be careful about removing any sort of structural support without adding it back in on the platform.  Without seeing the boat in person it is kind of tough, but there is a tremendous amount of torque on the back end of those boats, and removing strength might be an iffy proposition.  You did a great job bringing her back to her old luster and then some...  I myself enjoy working on old boats. It is a labor of love most of the time, but like any female, no matter how much care and money you give them, they are often left wanting more.

Good points, Margarita!

I've talked myself out of the new platform, but I'm the kind of guy that HAS to do something. So, the other night I decided to redo my consoles. Why? I don't know, bored maybe?

Anyway, I'm moving them back 6 inches and raising them 3.5 inches. Also, as requested by my wife, I'm making new dashes and putting in a new steering wheel. I guess it's all about the looks for her! Don't worry Doug, it'll all be done before season opener, then I can concentrate on fishing!

Imressive!  I am anxious to see the handy work!  I am stressing about just getting the boat uncovered and ready to fish and you are just about rebuilding it from the ground up.  Good for you!
