Island lake event will start off at the dam.Hope to see a good turn out for this event!
Here are the main species to try for in the lake Smallmouth bass,perch,pike,muskie,rock bass,walleye,crappie and blue gills!
I would be sure to work the smallmouth first. They are the points and good big fish for this lake. But if you are a muskie person, they are sure a good fish to work. They would net a lot of points, but remember, no fishing for muskies, unless you have a net big enough for them to be in it beside the boat while we boat over and you must have a cell phone. Keep the fish in the water until we get there. You can remove the hooks but be careful with the fish. When we get there and are ready, we want it measured, then photo'd quickly and then released. We do not want to have them out of the water for any more time than we need to.
I think that Island Lake could be an awesome lake for everyone. I hope we see everyone there.
We certainly have a lot more interest in this event then the first. But we have had multispecies events for a while in this area. Many of the MMTS and DABL teams are saying they are in. I think it will be a great day. And who knows, we may see a muskie too. We do need to post that online. But we will certainly see some great smallmouth bass.
