Jan 28th 7pm league meeting
 (United States)
QuoteReply

Hi Everyone,

Well it's time to start planning the 2008 season.  We need to elect a president, treasurer and members to the competition committee.  And we need to discuss several new ideas and changes.

We'll be meeting on Monday night, Jan 28th, 7 pm at Mr. D's Bar and Grill in West Duluth.  Please spread the word to anyone else that might be interested.

I will help getting things online and in the database, but we'll need someone to run the nightly events, talk to sponsors, etc.

Thanks and hope to see you there.

Here is an idea to throw into the mix for discussion on Monday...  What about scheduling some river nights, and then wild-carding the off water nights?  This way we are still guaranteed some nights fishing the river, but could have the element of surprise for the off waters?  Just an idea.

Here is several ideas I would like to see talked about:

Instead of the current system president and so forth, set up a board of directors that agree on changes then submits for a vote.

13 weeks with 4 byes

Entry fees reduced to 75-100

A complete list of all the rules/regulations that is given to each team on the first night.

One official start and end boat time using a on-board GPS

A clear ruling on being late back to the landing (on plane within sight etc)

A change in the prize structure

First night NOT on the river

The nights winners will have to give some info on lure and presentation they used (not location) I think this would help getting some new teams.

Have everything in place ready to go two weeks prior to start of league ( no changes except for adding teams)

The final thing I would like to see, is getting the league back to its original intent, and that is to have fun and learn more about fishing. If its about winning the top for money, lets just put the entry fee at $300 and winner takes all.

Doug is there anyway to set up a program where members can vote on line for changes to the league. It seems that the same people are showing up at these meetings. Everybody should have a say as to what happens even if they cannot make a meeting. The only time we have large turn out is just before league starts and then its to late to get everything in place

Just a few of my thoughts>>>>later the load

Great stuff Load.

First of all, I have to add, AWESOME Team Logo..  The FlyMaster out did himself there.  He must have burnt up a few midnight braincells on that.  Very cool.

Now the next thing I would really like it to nominate Bob, the Loadmaster, for President and the Board.  Don, the Scooter, is another great candidate for both.

I like the ideas, noting that most are in the rules already, so all that's needed for them is more people involved in the actual work at the landings and meetings.  These are already in the rules, the GPS time, winners needing to share their lure and presentation (someone could post it online in the members only section, if it doesn't show, enforce the penalty), rules on late back are solid, the feedback at the landings and opinions - not, board exists and votes (needs to be elected again), and the rules/regulations are out here and always current for everyone to see (someone can print and hand them out anytime).  I think we just need to see that everyone knows these are here already and that they need to read and know them.

I am all for the lower entry, earlier meetings, 13 nights 4 byes, etc.  Basically I agree with everything that the Load and Margaritaville have.  Let's get all the feedback we can, then vote, whatever is voted for is what we do.  Besides I am going to be filming more this year, than fishing, at least on Mondays.

Again, AWESOME avatar.  I like the pike in there, great balance..  Gone postal, or just fishing Mr. Load?

Well gents, I had a last second item come up that I can't get out of.  My work needs me in some training in the cities Monday thru Tuesday.  So you're on your own.

I think you could first elect a president, treasurer, and competition committee.  Then have the President run the meeting.  Just have them call me and get me the minutes, election results, etc. for the website.

Thanks and good luck...
