League meeting to discuss nights, lakes for 2008 - Oct 8th

Alright everyone, we are going to be meeting Monday Oct 8, at 7pm at Mr. D's Bar and Grill in West Duluth.

We have a couple teams that want to fish on Tuesday or Wednesday, another team that can't fish Mon thru Thursday that wants to run a Saturday group.  With these two new groups we could have multispecies groups on Mon., Tues, Wed, and Sat.  Not bad.

We will be finding out who the Tournament Directors for each group will be and discuss what each plans on doing, what lakes, nights, etc.

Another idea brought up, was that with all these additional groups, that we could allow people to do rain checks on different nights, if the scoring systems are the same and allow teams additional opportunities to fish against other teams and more flexibility in their year.  Sounds interesting.  My only note about that is what if all 4 groups fish someone's favorite lake, say Chub Lake, we would not want one team to fish all four groups for Chub and just do that.  That wouldn't be good.  I think a make up night on the same lake with another group, now I am ok with that.  As long as we are still using position points overall.  That would be fun and interesting.  As long as all 4 groups are about the same size.

I think this is all very cool and worth being present to discuss.  I hope anyone interested stops by.  Please spread the word and let anyone that might fish know.

Well we discussed several ideas for next year, here they are.

  1. Mystery lake - by drawing - every week.
  2. End time is end time (8:30 or 9pm)..  PERIOD.  under 1 minute late minus 15 points, > 1 minute late then ZERO pts.
  3. Everyone must launch together.
  4. Change entry fee to 100.00/team.  Less cash, more plaques.
  5. 2-3 nights - one fish species only; pike or walleye or bass or panfish.  Draw for it.
  6. One night - artificial only.
  7. 2 nights - eliminate 1 species at the landing, by drawing.

Alright that's what we discussed for Monday Night.  We also discussed the following:

  1. Another group fishing the river only on Tues or Wed.  multispecies, 4 fish limits.  Contact the crappieking if interested.
  2. Another multispecies group doing what the monday night group is doing, but on Tuesday or Thursday.  Contact Scooter if interested OR post here.
  3. The Cloquet Area Fishing League is going to limit at 15 teams and go every Wednesday opposite the Monday night group.  13 nights.  Contact Ryan on that.

Well that's all my notes and memory of it.  Thanks everyone for stopping and talking over these ideas.  Please spread the word and let's see who's interested in fishing in these groups.  Looks like Monday Multispecies is still solid, but there could be some more opportunities for someone to fish on another night and get out fishing.  That's cool.

We did have a new team show, they are looking to get out another night a week.  That's a good thing.  Thanks for stopping by Jim.
