The weather was nice but the fishing was tough. Still we had a lot of hundred plus point teams. Lots of smallmouth bass and multispecies bags. Not too many limits. Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.
Our first place team had four species and nice fish. That was the Patience team of Steve Ondrus and Dan Roach. Congratulations guys. Great job.
Second place went to the Frustrated Team of Don and Ron. Third went to Team Sarcastic: Pat and Ross.
Great job to all teams and see you at the Garfield launch on the St. Louis River next Monday. Remember 5:30 to 9:00pm and review the St. Louis River regulations. All smallmouth must be 14 inches, all walleyes 15 inches and no more than 4 walleyes per boat and no more than 2 over 20 inches. NO more than 2 pike over 30 and no more than 4 pike in possession. Muskies could be biting and most all our species are on at this time. I hope mother nature is nice to us.

Night 3 results are now online, all scores. Please check them out. Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.
Well the weather wasn't very nice and we had to call the night early, but luckily only by 30-45 minutes. We still saw some nice catches. We had some great smallmouth bassnn caught the biggest being just over 20 inches by the Loadmaster, Bob Carson. Even with a little boat the Gone Postal team kept in the game. Good job guys. We also had some nice baskets of bassnn by the Patience team and our winners, Team Sarcastic..

Team Sarcastic had three species, but they had limits of each and lots of bonus fish to score 211 points and win. Second went to Team Choppers and Third to Team TGIF. It was a beautiful night until the huge storm fronts started moving in from the south west. We are glad that everyone got off safely and we took care of our scoring in the rain, but safely on shore.

Well our night on Fish Lake was both tough and high scoring. All scores are now online. Please check them out. Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.
It was a tough night, due to the weather changes, but that did not show by the way some teams scored. One winning team did it with a ALL TIME high score of 243 points. WOW! Congrats to Team Sarcastic, Pat Day and Ross Korpela.
The fish biting were pike, perch, crappies and bluegills of course. Scouting really did not pay off too well. But if you change your locations based on the wind, you did well.
Next we go back to the St. Louis River, this time the Smithville (Clyde's Avenue) launch. See ya there and good fishing..

Our first night's results from May 22nd, St. Louis River, Boy Scout landing are now online. Please check them out. Click here for the Fish Scored and current standings.
It was a tough night for a bite and it showed in the fishing points and fish scored. This is the all time lowest number of walleyes scored on our opening night from Boy Scout. That says something about the weather. The fish that bite were concentrated and only a few teams really got into them. The fish biting were pike, perch, and crappies. Only pike were really aggressive, but only in small areas. So scouting really paid off for this night. That changes as things warm up and all the fish get going.
Unfortunately one team broke their lower unit. We are glad that the Old Farts are ok and wish the night had gone better for them. But very glad no one got hurt and hope their boat and they are back in action soon.
Next we goto Fish Lake on Tuesday, May 30th off the dam landing on the north side of the lake. See ya there and good fishing..

We are fishing on Fish Lake on Tuesday, May 30th, from the launch at the dam on the west end of the lake. That will let us fish Island Lake in three weeks when the muskies are legal. It would be a shame to catch one and not score it. I do hope someone catches one.

Leagues start in just days now. Both our bass and multispecies leagues have met our targets and are ready to go. We are picking up the certificates and trophies for the bass group to have them on hand.
The DNR tournament permits are in hand and all approved. We discussed all questions with the DNR and we are a go on all counts. If we get a few extra teams this year on some nights or all, no problem. I doubt we will average over 15 teams a night, all nights, but that would be a good thing.

After reviewing the 2006 Minnesota DNR Fishing Regulations, we have had to make few changes to the scoring system. Please review the scoring and schedule pages.
The changes are only one walleye over 20" per day per angler (two per team) is allowed. No more than one catfish over 24" is allowed per angler (two per team). And on Caribou Lake we noted the pike slot where you must immediately release any pike between 24" and 36", so they will not be scored there.
Please review all of these and be sure to follow them on league nights.

Our Bass and Multispecies Fishing Leagues are looking good and will be running full groups this year, so get your entry fees to our treasurer, Rick Olson of the Old Farts to reserve a spot.
We have had 15 teams say they want to fish the Duluth Area Bass League and at least as many multispecies teams. So see that you pay soon. We are working on sponsors right now, then we will see how many teams we have and determine how many multispecies groups to run this summer.
