-- Duluth Area Bass League is FULL --
We are no longer taking anymore teams for the 2007 full season entry fee of $50.
Teams still can participate on a nightly basis at $10 a night, but YOU MUST CALL AL ANSELL AT 218-390-5676 BEFORE THE NIGHT YOU WISH TO FISH. If you show up at the landing without calling, you might not be able to fish, so please call ahead.
If you already sent your registration form and fee, we will send it back to you and put your team on a reserve list just in case a team bows out before the start of the season.
Thanks to all the teams that joined this year, it looks like another exciting year of bass fishing!

MMTS and DABL Mandatory meeting, Monday March 19th, 7:00pm at Mr. D's.
Be sure to pay to reserve your spot in any of our leagues. We will be working to get the sponsors lined up shortly after this meeting, so please bring any ideas you have for sponsors.
We will discussing the number of nights we fish, meeting any rookie teams, comparing notes on bigger multispecies tournaments, details on the MMTS Classic this year, etc.
Please join us and let's plan for another great year of fishing.

With bigger tournaments to come soon, DABL is going to have a separate announcements area here. MMTS will have the same on it's main page. Both will benefit from a bigger audience. Hopefully this will lead to more people in the forums and sharing fishing information.
Seeking Volunteers: Any DABL member that wants to help post announcements, schedule changes, meetings, the results of our tournaments, etc. can contact Doug or Ouitdee and they can set you up with that. We always like volunteers to help run our fishing leagues.

Please read my forum post about upcoming changes to the 2007 Duluth Area Bass League. Most are tentative changes, but will likely happen. One big thing I want to point out is that DABL will go to an invite only league. So teams from the past year have first dibs on spots for the following year. Those teams can invite new teams for the following year as well. Then if the league is still not full, DABL will do a first-come, first-serve basis for any interested teams. Teams from 2006 are the members for the club, we all run it and we all make the rules and I'm listening to the teams. READ MY POST HERE! Have a great winter!

MMTS had plenty of volunteers Friday, August 18th to help take the Girl Power Group from the YWCA out fishing. We had two boats taking small groups on the water, while others helped on the shore. EVERY girl caught fish and had a lot of fun.
We had one to two big fish per person and a couple nice bass, including one largemouth bass measuring 19.25 inches. Thanks to all that helped make this happen. I am sure we made memories that won't be forgotten. That's a great thing.
First I want to thank those that came out and volunteered. This included Steve Ondrus, Aaron Hansen, Ed Forrestal, Ouitdee Carson, and my son Jonathan. They did a great job. Thanks Ed for bringing your boat. Our boats made some memories I think they will be talking about for a while.
Thanks again for fishing rods and reels and helping prepare them. And Thanks again to Marine General for the tackle and Fisherman's Corner for the bait. Also Thanks to the Minnesota DNR MinnAqua coordinator, Sarah for the booklets, handouts and suggestions.

Thanks to all that helped make this happen. Thanks for donating and loaning fishing rods and reels and helping prepare them. This group included Ivan, Ed F., Matt P., Pat Cooke, Ouitdee and my son Jonathan. We ended up with just enough fishing rods and reels for this group.
Thanks to Marine General for the tackle and Fisherman's Corner for the bait. Also Thanks to the Minnesota DNR MinnAqua coordinator, Sarah for the booklets, handouts and suggestions.
Special Thanks to my son Jonathan and Ouitdee, the FlyMaster for showing and helping us share some time fishing the kids. And Thanks to the YWCA staff for giving us this opportunity.
It is a good feeling sharing our passion for fishing with a new generation and seeing the smiles and excitement.

Please be sure to help find fishing rods and reels and/or come out to help us share our love for fishing with the Grant Summer School Program and the Girl Power groups from the YWCA this Thursday and Friday at Chub Lake. Bring your own kids too. I am.
If you can help please call Doug at 390-9973 and let him know how you can help us teach kids about our great sport of fishing.

We have added this rule to the bass league to satisfy the requirement that the DNR has set forth regarding tournaments held in Minnesota. Basically any tournament where there are more than 15 boats will need to get a permit from the DNR. DABL has no permits because the plan was stay within the 15 boat limit. There are currently 15 teams reserved for this season. So teams that have not reserved will need to call me prior to the start of the tourney to find out if there have been any cancellations. My cell number is 218-590-1712.

Leagues start in just days now. Both our bass and multispecies leagues have met our targets and are ready to go. We are picking up the certificates and trophies for the bass group to have them on hand.
The DNR tournament permits are in hand and all approved. We discussed all questions with the DNR and we are a go on all counts. If we get a few extra teams this year on some nights or all, no problem. I doubt we will average over 15 teams a night, all nights, but that would be a good thing.
