Duluth Bass Club Meeting Oct 2nd 2014
Event log is updated with final events and rankings.
Introduced new members. None Present.
Handed out jerseys to those that are paid in.
Cabin at Vermilion went over very very well. We are going to look into getting a cabin for Gull lake. Will probably need a cabin that sleeps 10+.
The food that was brought (pulled pork) was a big hit. We can plan for that again next year but we need to make sure any costs are known up front.
Discussed the success of the Prior Lake club that placed as team. They worked as a team over all and shared all waypoints on the GPS and they mirrored all the SD cards so they know which areas of the lake were successful and which were not. This is designed after the Minnesota team contract when going on to divisionals. We will write something up, especially for those that are on the club team that they WILL work together and share spots. Possibly may have to sign contract like the state team. Doug will get the contract from Brent from the Federation board. Key issue for this to work is to build trust bonds amongst the club members. Question was surfaced; should we have paper clubs for TOC entry?
Discussed the baits and tactics that were successful at Lake Vermilion. Working jerk baits, top water, stupid tubes, etc over humps and deep drops. Throwing perpendicular to the hump or over the shallows to bring it over the deep drop. Darker colors were better for LM. Fish were in transition areas. with some weed and rock. slow down, back off, and downsize.
Discussed possible officer changes. Lee will be stepping down as evening series tournament director. Shark is stepping down as evening series weigh master. We are looking for evening series tournament director and weigh master.
Discussed the possibility of making changes to evening series whether it be free/$10/$20 what was successful and what wasn’t. Evening series grew by a couple boats per event but we don’t know if it was the $10 entry fee. Should it go back to $20 or should it be free and the club just hands out a gift certificate to the winner.
Writing thank you letter to current sponsors and try to get new sponsors. Tax day is deadline for sponsorship. Jerseys logos can be changed timely. Also Steve will make sponsor packages available.
Lee brought up an idea of a “premier” member for $45 gets to vote while the $30 membership is a basic membership just to fish the events. This was just a proposal.
For better voter transparency we are looking at a possible poll on the club website. That way there is a forum that discusses the vote and in order to vote they have to register in order to vote and they get 1 vote from that registered ID. Survey Monkey or maybe Wiggio.com were discussed. Roger brought up attendance to be a part of the discussion. His position is must be here to vote. Doug, Steve, and Mike are in favor of everyone getting a say via e-mail so all can see. This issue revolves around transparency of member inputs.
Party committee will be Aaron, Dane, Mike, Doug, Steve.
MC for the party is Jason Manning from KQDS
Notes will be published to the website forum.
